About Ethan
The Beginning and more
Ethan loved LEGO,all things Pokémon,writing poems, drawing, reading Goosebumps, computer games and a variety of PlayStation games. Later on he favored PlayStation military games such as Battlefield,Metal Gear Solid and Call of Duty.
Besides typical kid games in the early years Ethan loved his GI Joe’s, WWE wrestling on tv and had all the latest action figures. Ethan and Michael also attended a live WWE match.
Ethan loved strategy computer games including StarCraft and DigDug. In teenage years Ethan loved reading Donald Miller books.
Every year he loved getting the Guinness Book of World Records from Costco.
Ethan also enjoyed military history books and movies.
The Middle and more
Ethan loved a variety of comedy movies with Will Farrell being a favorite. Ethan introduced us to many comedians like Gabriel Iglesias,Kevin Hart,Ron White,Dane Cook, Dave Chappelle and others we would have never known about and now we have memories of watching with him .
Michael and Ethan also watched many movies together including all the Purge, Jackass and SAW movies.
His first job was Safeway at 16 which turned him into a big online shopper. Whether it be clothes,pizza or Amazon he especially loved tracking packages to pinpoint their arrival. Ethan always bought the latest T-shirt’s about subjects he liked such as tv show Ghost Hunters. We enjoyed watching many shows together including Discovery Shark Week and SpongeBob.
The company he loved called To Write Love On Her Arms (TWLOHA) benefited from years of financial support and clothing sales from him .
In 9th grade besides his love of online gaming Ethan started lifting weights and was on the school track and football teams. He also participated in a city program for basketball . Early years with bike and scooter later on Ethan mostly enjoyed watching sports on tv.
Although in 12th grade Ethan took up bowling as an elective to get him fast easy credit ..Michael and I joined him several times ..fun memories .
Once he signed up for the Navy he started running regularly and even climbed a mountain to prepare for bootcamp.
He thrived in bootcamp even while getting all 4 wisdom teeth pulled and getting sick he still managed to graduate on time with no issues. We were very proud .Soon after graduation he flew to meet his ship USS GRIDLEY that was in Bahrain , it was his 21st birthday the day he arrived to begin his deployment
More about Ethan
From 2012 while in the Navy he was on 3 ships. The USS GRIDLEY from 2012-2017.
The USS ZUMWALT from 2017-2019 then finally the USS WAYNE E MEYER.
Three long deployments and the usual sea trials/underways his love of the job and ocean shined through.
Earning numerous awards and promotions over the years recognizing his hardwork and dedication to his career including his EWSW and EWAW pins and 5 NAMs.
